Biography

Max Haiven's work focuses on the radical imagination as it flows through critical institutions and edifices of the global. Completing his dissertation in cultural studies at McMaster University in June, he has published and written on themes ranging from Wal-Mart to food sovereignty to finance to Pokemon cards. His research on dams as sites of global imagination and cultural production is inspired by his participation in peace, labour, social justice and anti-racist struggles

La recherche de Max Haiven est axée sur l’imagination radicale comme elle s’écoule à travers les institutions critiques et les édifices du global. Achevant sa dissertation en études culturelles à l’université McMaster en juin, il a publié et écrit sur des thèmes allant de Wal-Mart, à la souveraineté de la nourriture, aux finances, en passant par les cartes Pokemon. Sa recherche sur les barrages comme sites de l’imagination globale et de la production culturelle s’inspire de sa participation aux luttes pour la paix, pour la justice sociale, pour la main-d’œuvre, et contre le racisme.
