Biography

Andrew Biro currently holds a Canada Research Chair in Political Ecology and Environmental Political Theory, and is an important and innovative thinker in the area of environmental politics. As the particular academic domain of "political ecology" continues to gain prominence and importance on the academic landscape, Biro's participation will importantly link workshop participants into this key area of thinking with water. His work as a Canada Research Chair, and as a regular speaker at international conferences, has focused extensively on the specific intersection of water, cultural meaning, and political theory. This extensive experience will be of great benefit to all in attendance, and will further secure the place of Canadian scholarship at the forefront of interdisciplinary environmental thought.

Andrew Biro est actuellement titulaire de la Chaire de recherche du Canada en écologie politique et théorie environnementale politique, et constitue un penseur important et innovateur dans la sphère des politiques environnementales. Étant donné la notoriété et l’importance que continue à gagner le domaine de « l’écologie politique » sur la scène universitaire, la participation de Biro permettra de créer un lien important entre les participants et ce secteur-clé de la pensée avec l’eau.
