Biographie

Mielle Chandler brings a strong interdisciplinary perspective to the workshop, including strengths in political theory, philosophy and feminist ethics. Chandler's work is particularly notable for its innovative theoretical unfolding of the notion of "gestational ethics." Her most recent research projects explore the connections between evolution, life sciences and the ethics of "matter," considering how thinking with water can deepen our understandings and the applicability of "ethics" in a more-than-human world. Her collaboration here with Neimanis also demonstrates how thinking with water can bring together innovative contributions that arise from divergent yet complementary perspectives-a key scholarly objective of the workshop. Chandler is a junior scholar, but her already impressive publication record demonstrates considerable promise, and she will highly benefit from the mentoring possibilities offered by the workshop.

Voilà ce qu’elle souhaite offrir au contexte de l’atelier. Son travail est remarquable entre autres grâce à l’innovation théorique du déploiement de la notion « d’éthique gestationnelle. » Ses plus récents projets de recherche explorent les connexions entre l’évolution, les sciences de la vie et les éthiques de la « matière, » tout en considérant comment penser avec l’eau peut approfondir notre compréhension et l’application de « l’éthique » dans un monde plus-qu’humain. Sa collaboration ici avec Astrida Neimanis démontre aussi comment penser avec l’eau peut rassembler des contributions innovatrices survenant de perspectives divergentes mais complémentaires – un objectif central de cet atelier. Chandler en est à ses débuts en tant que chercheure universitaire ; néanmoins, sa liste impressionnante de publications est très prometteuse. Elle tirera grand profit des possibilités de mentorat de l’atelier.
